Videos: LCDP BBQ 2017-07-06

Lowndes County Democratic Party meetings are always informative and even inspiring. In May, we had Corey Hull, of the Valdosta-Lowndes Metroplitan Planning Organization (VLMPO), who updated us on public transportation.

At our July Annual BBQ we were joined by a number of local Democratic candidates who shared with us why they were running for office. We were also joined by Sarah Todd, Democratic Party of Georgia Vice Chair for County Parties, and Claudia Collier, Democratic Party of Georgia Greening Chair. You’ve already seen a few pictures from the BBQ. Here are videos from that fine day, July 6, 2017.

Election Eve GOTV 2016-11-07

Half the people already voted early: now get out the vote for the other half on Election Day! GOTV Please join us for Election Eve GOTV at the monthly Lowndes County Democratic Party meeting at Mama June’s:

  • making phone calls on behalf of candidates,
  • knocking on doors for candidates,
  • and giving rides to the polls.

Some LCDP members are planning on holding campaign signs in legally acceptable areas near polling locations. All that and slate cards, vote no on Amendment 3, and elect local, statewide, and national Democrats! Continue reading

Meet the Candidates at VSU 2016-09-12

Join us for a “Meet the Candidates” forum sponsored by the Young Democrats of Valdosta State University and is open to the public. 13921047 1128560847218770 5664533012777217210 N We will hear from Democratic and Republican candidates running for local and state offices. This is instead of the usual LCDP monthly meeting. And there seems to be some doubt that Republican candidates will attend.

A diverse panel from students to faculty to professionals to the Lowndes County Commission Chairman discussed animal rights at the 7 December 2015 Lowndes County Democratic Party monthly meeting. The next meeting is tomorrow, 4 January 2016, about local health issues.

Local Health Issues, Public Forum and LCDP Monthly Meeting 2016-01-04

Animal Rights Forum: what about that tethering ordinance? 2015-12-07

Please join us for a public meeting about the issue of animal rights and animal welfare on Monday, December 7 at 6:00 pm. Facebook event.

Tethered dog Dr. Amanda Hall says:

“The manner in which we care for our pets is a measure of the quality of our community as a whole. A community that tolerates animal cruelty and neglect is one that tolerates low standards throughout the community.”

Our guest panel speakers will include:

  • Dr. Amanda Hall from Baytree Animal Hospital,
  • Dr. Tom Aiello from the VSU History Department,
  • Ashlie Prain from the VSU Anthropology Club,
  • and Michelle Williams from the Pixel Fund Rescue.

Lowndes County has been invited to send a speaker about the animal shelter, but has not yet responded.

The meeting will take place at Mama June’s restaurant at 3286 Inner Perimeter Road. You do not need to purchase food to join in the discussion.
