Tuesday is Special Election Day to put Democrat Dr. Treva Gear in the Georgia Statehouse.

When: 7AM to 7PM, Tuesday, February 13, 2018

Where: Go to Georgia My Voter Page.

What: Turnout will determine This election, so get out and vote. Take your friends with you.
If you don’t live in GA 175, make sure your friends that do live there go to vote.

Dr. Treva Gear, a teacher’s teacher, a recent Lowndes High School Teacher of the Year, and a military veteran, is the one Democrat running in the Special Election for Georgia House District 175. She is from Cook County, works in Lowndes County, and lives in Brooks County.

It’s qualiftying week, so now’s the time to decide to run! Some of the open positions include: Lowndes County Board of Education (Districts 4,5,6,7), Lowndes County Commissioner (Chair, Districts 1, 5), Board of Assessors, County Surveyor, Coroner, Clerk of Courts (Probate), Clerk of Superior Court, Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, Solicitor, Georgia Senator (District 8), Georgia House Representative (Districts 174, 175, 176, 177), US Congress (Districts 1, 8). If you’re not motivated enough, try reading about the Lowndes County Commission 4 to 1 vote to sell an easement to Sabal Trail a year after the same commission voted unanimously they didn’t want that fracked methane pipeline in our county or our state.

Videos: Democratic Values Supporting Local Business @ LCDP 2015-03-02

To prepare for tonight’s meeting, here are videos of last month’s packed meeting at the Board of Elections with the Lowndes County Democratic Party listened and discussed with business speakers.

Public transportation was a very popular topic, as already recommended by both the Chamber and the Development Authority so employees can get to work. As Jim Parker pointed out the necessary $1 million a year would require 1 mil of property tax, or about $60 per property owner. Buses could even run on green corridors!

March Monthly LCDP Meeting

IMG_4384The next monthly meeting for the Lowndes County Democratic Party meeting will be held in the lobby of the Lowndes County Board of Elections at 2808 N. Oak St. Valdosta, GA 31601 on March 2nd, 2015 at 6:00 PM. This decision was made due to requests of a few members who remarked that there was too little room for members during the February meeting. Please mark your calendars for this event and come watch the LCDP continue to grow.

After a pot luck supper at the new location at the party office, new chair Tom Hochschild presided over a standing-room-only crowd that heard Deb Cox, Dexter Sharper, Demarcus Marshall, and J.D. Rice.

Lowndes County Elections Supervisor Deb Cox said there’s a special election in Lake Park for an unexpired City Council seat, poll workers are needed, and you can register to vote online.

Dexter Sharper, re-elected from District 177 (Valdosta and parts of Lowndes County) to the Georgia House, spoke about the need for early financial education, for gun safety instruction should be required to get a firearm permit, and for medical certification for coroner positions throughout the state of Georgia. New LCDP Chair Tom Hochschild invited everyone to the monthly party meeting Monday 5 January 2015 at a new location: the LCDP office, 1008 Slater Street, Valdosta, which he noted is near VSU. He made this announcement at the Town Hall Meeting 15 December 2014 organized by Demarcus Marshall, Lowndes County Commissioner, Superdistrict 4; Dr. Marshall will also speak at Monday’s party meeting.
