Videos: Ride the Big Blue Wave at LCDP BBQ 2018-07-02

A much larger crowd this year than the previous two years listened to Democratic candidates for local and most state offices, as well as for Congress, at the annual LCDP BBQ at Mathis Auditorium, July 2, 2018, as you can see in these videos.

After a delicious BBQ dinner prepared by Big Nick’s, the crowd was galvanized by an excellent array of speeches from local and state candidates and elected officials. It was a terrific and inspiring evening! —Haley Hyatt

Tickets are available for the annual BBQ at Mathis Auditorium, July 2, 2018, where you can help the Lowndes County Democratic Party (LCDP) Ride the Big Blue Wave.

All Democratic candidates running for districts all or part in Lowndes County have been invited to speak, including for Lowndes County Commission, State Representative, statewide offices, and for Congress.

When: 6PM, Monday July 2, 2018

Where: Mathis Auditorium, 2300 North Ashley Street, Valdosta, GA

Tickets: $25.00 per person from any Lowndes County Democratic Committee member or at the door or online

Come on down every first first Monday of the month to the LCDP meeting, next Monday, April 2, 2018, at Mama June’s on Inner Perimeter. It’s a social gathering, and it’s a business meeting. It moves around, so if you have a favorite location for fifty or so of your closest Democratic friends, let us know.

Party business doesn’t stop after the monthly meeting adjourns. There’s a BBQ to put on, candidates to elect, issues to air, and bills to pay. A few officers or committee members can’t do it alone. You are the party, so you can help us all Ride the Big Blue Wave.

Local Democratic Party Augments Team with New Chair

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Valdosta, December 1st 2014 — Prof. Tom Hochschild of VSU, recent candidate for County Commission, is the new Chairman of the Lowndes County Democratic Party (LCDP), after a party Committee meeting Saturday. He chaired his first monthly party meeting Monday evening.

Gretchen Quarterman chose to step down as chairman saying:

“It has been a privilege to lead the LCDP for the past four years and I look forward working with Tom and actively promoting Democratic Values”.

In addition to electing Hochschild as Chair, Quarterman was elected as Secretary and remaining officers were re-elected to their leadership positions including Dennis Marks (Vice-Chair for Elections), Glenn Ritchie (Vice-Chair for Membership), Richard Saeger (Vice-Chair for Qualifying) and James J. Parker (Treasurer).

Chairman Hochschild said

“I am excited to be working with these outstanding individuals, and believe that we have a great foundation in place to improve the lives of Lowndes County residents.”

Fun and voter registration at South Georgia Pride today!

Valarie Wilson has a runoff Tuesday for Georgia School Superintendent (the other candidate was invited but did not attend). In November, Democrats can vote for Bikram Mohanty for Georgia State Senate District 8, Dexter Sharper for Georgia House District 177 (unopposed incumbent), Daniel Blackman for Public Service Commission, Robbin Shipp for Labor Commissioner, and of course Jason Carter for Governor.
