March to the Polls with Dexter Sharper 2014-10-26

Running unopposed for House District 177, Dexter Sharper is helping other Democratic candidates get elected by getting out the vote through a march to the polls on the new Sunday voting day, October 26th, that the Lowndes County Democratic Party (LCDP) got added to the voting calendar this year (only only second county in the state). And what about past and potential future precinct closings, even though LCDP prevented any from happening this year?

On Saturday, October 18, Valdosta’s Dexter Sharper, a state representative for Lowndes County, made a formal announcement in an effort to encourage voting— “March to the Polls”— which is scheduled for Sunday, October 26. In early September, Lowndes become only the second county in Georgia to approve Sunday voting.The ‘March to the Polls’ will commence at Valdosta Middle School’s parking Lot and will end at the Board of Elections.

We are drawing close to the busiest time of the year. Election season is upon us.  We will hear from State Representative Dexter Sharper on upcoming legislative schedule (he is unopposed this year), early voting, GOTV events and more.

Lowndes County Commissioner Demarcus Marshall will give us a wrap-up on his first term and welcomes your input on his upcoming term (he also is un-opposed).

And Valdosta City Councilwoman Sandra Tooley will talk to us about her first year in office. Our elected officials can give us special insights into how we can help to get out the vote and elect those who represent our entire community.

We will also hear about local GOTV events, phone banks, and more. If you ever thought of being involved in the Democratic process, now is the time.

Videos: Jason Carter headlining BBQ @ LCDP 2014-04-07 2014-07-01

Here are videos of Jason Carter and the other Democratic candidates who came to the Annual Lowndes County Democratic Party Barbecue July 1st 2014.

Valarie Wilson has a runoff Tuesday for Georgia School Superintendent (the other candidate was invited but did not attend). In November, Democrats can vote for Bikram Mohanty for Georgia State Senate District 8, Dexter Sharper for Georgia House District 177 (unopposed incumbent), Daniel Blackman for Public Service Commission, Robbin Shipp for Labor Commissioner, and of course Jason Carter for Governor.
