What should be on the platform of the national Democratic Party?
At least two delegates to the Democratic National Convention (DNC)
will be at the LCDP BBQ, one of them our own
LCDP Secretary Gretchen Quarterman, who was at this weekend’s Platform Committee meeting in Orlando.
She will be circulating a survey for you to fill out.

James Harris (Democratic Candidate for US Congress 8th District),

Tonight the LCDP is holding a special meeting for people in the Hahira
and North Lowndes County community. The meeting will be informal and
we will discuss issues facing this community in particular, how to
support Democratic interests in this community and the recruitment
of new members. So please come as you are, come hungry and bring a
friend. Please RSVP so we can let the restaurant owner know how many
will be attending.

The next monthly meeting for the Lowndes County Democratic Party meeting will be held in the lobby of the Lowndes County Board of Elections at 2808 N. Oak St. Valdosta, GA 31601 on March 2nd, 2015 at 6:00 PM. This decision was made due to requests of a few members who remarked that there was too little room for members during the February meeting. Please mark your calendars for this event and come watch the LCDP continue to grow.
Valdosta, February 5th, 2015 — Two rooms filled and standing
in the hall, so many people came to hear Dr. James LaPlant talk
about how Georgia is “in play”, that the Lowndes County Democratic
Party (LCDP) is moving to a bigger venue for its March meeting.
I’m looking forward to next Monday’s (February 2) potluck meeting
from 6:00 to 7:00 (1008 Slater St.) with guest speaker Dr. James
LaPlant. We’ll be talking about how Georgia is “in play,” and what
we can do to turn South Georgia blue! Allison and I will be bringing
a kale, walnut, parmesean cheese dish. Can everyone list any food
items you will be bringing so that we ensure a good variety? Thanks.
Dexter Sharper, re-elected from District 177 (Valdosta and parts of Lowndes County) to the Georgia House,
spoke about the need for early financial education,
for gun safety instruction should be required to get a firearm permit,

Valdosta, December 1st 2014 — Prof. Tom Hochschild of VSU,
recent candidate for County Commission, is the new Chairman of the
Democratic Party (LCDP), after a party Committee meeting Saturday.
He chaired his first monthly party meeting Monday evening.
Gretchen Quarterman chose to step down as chairman saying:
“It has been a privilege to lead the LCDP for the past four years
and I look forward working with Tom and actively promoting
In addition to electing Hochschild as Chair, Quarterman was elected
as Secretary and remaining officers were re-elected to their
leadership positions including Dennis Marks (Vice-Chair for
Elections), Glenn Ritchie (Vice-Chair for Membership), Richard
Saeger (Vice-Chair for Qualifying) and James J. Parker (Treasurer).
Chairman Hochschild said
“I am excited to be working with these outstanding individuals, and
believe that we have a great foundation in place to improve the
lives of Lowndes County residents.”
