Candidates, Delegates, and Food at annual LCDP BBQ 2016-07-11

What should be on the platform of the national Democratic Party? 13612121 1097103057031216 2226897264174949346 N At least two delegates to the Democratic National Convention (DNC) will be at the LCDP BBQ, one of them our own LCDP Secretary Gretchen Quarterman, who was at this weekend’s Platform Committee meeting in Orlando. She will be circulating a survey for you to fill out.

In addition to delicious BBQ and live music, you’ll hear from Ted Terry (Mayor of Clarkston GA), Jim Barksdale (Georgia U.S. Senate Candidate), James Harris (Democratic Candidate for US Congress 8th District), Gregory Williams (Democratic Candidate for State Senate District 8), Ashley Paulk (Lowndes County Sheriff candidate), Joyce Evans (Lowndes County Commissioner District 1), Teresa K Moffitt (Democratic Candidate for Lowndes County Commission District 5), and other Democratic candidates who are working to improve the lives of all Americans. Hahira and North Lowndes LCDP meeting 2015-04-20

Tonight the LCDP is holding a special meeting for people in the Hahira and North Lowndes County community. The meeting will be informal and we will discuss issues facing this community in particular, how to support Democratic interests in this community and the recruitment of new members. March Monthly LCDP Meeting

IMG_4384The next monthly meeting for the Lowndes County Democratic Party meeting will be held in the lobby of the Lowndes County Board of Elections at 2808 N. Oak St. Valdosta, GA 31601 on March 2nd, 2015 at 6:00 PM. This decision was made due to requests of a few members who remarked that there was too little room for members during the February meeting. Please mark your calendars for this event and come watch the LCDP continue to grow.

Videos: GA Rep. Dexter Sharper District 177 @ LCDP 2015-01-05

After a pot luck supper at the new location at the party office, new chair Tom Hochschild presided over a standing-room-only crowd that heard Deb Cox, Dexter Sharper, Demarcus Marshall, and J.D. Rice.

Lowndes County Elections Supervisor Deb Cox said there’s a special election in Lake Park for an unexpired City Council seat, poll workers are needed, and you can register to vote online.

Dexter Sharper, re-elected from District 177 (Valdosta and parts of Lowndes County) to the Georgia House, spoke about the need for early financial education, for gun safety instruction should be required to get a firearm permit, and for medical certification for coroner positions throughout the state of Georgia. Local Democratic Party Augments Team with New Chair

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Valdosta, December 1st 2014 — Prof. Tom Hochschild of VSU, recent candidate for County Commission, is the new Chairman of the Lowndes County Democratic Party (LCDP), after a party Committee meeting Saturday. He chaired his first monthly party meeting Monday evening.

Gretchen Quarterman chose to step down as chairman saying:

“It has been a privilege to lead the LCDP for the past four years and I look forward working with Tom and actively promoting Democratic Values”.

In addition to electing Hochschild as Chair, Quarterman was elected as Secretary and remaining officers were re-elected to their leadership positions including Dennis Marks (Vice-Chair for Elections), Glenn Ritchie (Vice-Chair for Membership), Richard Saeger (Vice-Chair for Qualifying) and James J. Parker (Treasurer).

Chairman Hochschild said

“I am excited to be working with these outstanding individuals, and believe that we have a great foundation in place to improve the lives of Lowndes County residents.”
