Qualifying Chair James LaPlant will discuss local elections and
Elections Supervisor Deb Cox will go over the exact process for
qualifying to run in the local elections. Qualifying is this month
so come to this meeting to find out how to run, who’s already
interested in running, and find candidates to support (or run
LCDP March Monthly Meeting: we will be working on the two topics we identified last month, Public Transportation and Education. Plan on coming and helping to make our community a place that benefits everyone.

WHEREAS, the Lowndes County Democratic Party (LCDP) has as its first
platform plank: “Georgia Democrats believe every child in every
classroom in every school in every county in Georgia should have
access to a high quality public education”; and
WHEREAS, the LCDP agrees with the Education & Workforce Policy
Committee of the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce that early
education is connected to a community’s long-term economic
development potential; and
WHEREAS, the proposed budget from the Georgia Governor’s office
includes the following item in the Department of Early Care and
5.5M for tiered reimbursement for Quality Rated child care programs; and

Broadening the team, the Lowndes County Democratic Party (LCDP)
brought in J.D. Rice as its new Chairman plus a new Membership Vice-Chair, and two new Assistant Chairs.
Viviann Cody voiced the sentiments of the LCDP,
“We say “Thank You” to those who serve as leaders for the past two years. They did a great job “applause” please for them. Tonight we introduce our new “Leaders” for the next two years. Now we need new members to join. Our next meeting will be Jan. 2017. Listen out for me and others to ask you to get on board. We can make a difference within our city. Half the people already voted early: now get out the vote for the
other half on Election Day!
Please join us for Election Eve GOTV at the
monthly Lowndes County Democratic Party meeting at Mama June’s:
making phone calls on behalf of candidates,
knocking on doors for candidates,
and giving rides to the polls.
Some LCDP members are planning on holding campaign signs in legally acceptable areas near polling locations.

With 37 days until the election, we are organizing to register as
many people to vote as possible!
We are also promoting Democratic
candidates at the local, state, and presidential levels. We will
have Clinton/Kaine yard signs for $15, but really want them on busy
roads with high traffic.
