J.D. Rice new LCDP Chair with more officers


Valdosta December 8th 2016 — Broadening the team, the Lowndes County Democratic Party (LCDP) brought in J.D. Rice as its new Chairman plus a new Membership Vice-Chair, and two new Assistant Chairs.

Viviann Cody voiced the sentiments of the LCDP, “We say “Thank You” to those who serve as leaders for the past two years. They did a great job “applause” please for them. Tonight we introduce our new “Leaders” for the next two years. Now we need new members to join. Our next meeting will be Jan. 2017. Listen out for me and others to ask you to get on board. We can make a difference within our city. Get Ready, Get Ready a change is about to happen in Valdosta.”

New Chairman J.D. Rice can draw on three former Chairs for advice, with immediate past Chair Tom Hochschild still on the local party’s governing board, the Lowndes County Democratic Committee. Old: Gretchen Quarterman (Treasurer), Tom Hochschild (Chairman), Glen Ritchie (Vice-Chair Membership), Jim Parker (Treasurer), Dennis Marks (Vice-Chair Elections), James LaPlant (Vice-Chair Qualifying, not pictured) Gretchen Quarterman, the Chair before Hochschild, is still the Secretary, plus the committee added a new Assistant Secretary, Nerma Dave. Dennis Marks, long-time previous Chairman, is still the Vice Chair for Elections, and Jim Parker is still Treasurer, plus Aubrey Fowler was added as the new Assistant Treasurer. Teresa K. Moffitt is the new Vice-Chairman for Membership, with Glenn Ritchie retiring from that position but remaining on the Committee.

It was the Lowndes County Democratic Committee, with unusually high attendance, that elected the new officers at its 5PM meeting before they were presented to the general party members and the public at the also well-attended monthly Lowndes County Democratic Party meeting 6PM Monday December 5th 2016 at Mama June’s restaurant in Valdosta.
